Cloud Counter User Documentation notes

Counting JIRA Resources

  1. Introduction

1.1 Scope and Purpose

This is a user guide for counting JIRA resources on JIRA cloud, it enhances and fasten up the processes used in counting resources and schemas in the JIRA cloud. The results of the count will be displayed in a bar chart and tabular form with the resource name and count value.

Jira server has a counter page but unfortunately none exists for Jira cloud. This page is desperately helpful to  Jira Administrators for the sole purpose of being able to count JIRA resources, Attachments and Schemas using one tool, one action on seperate views. The chart returns the counts for upto three different count actions per time it was performed and these are distinguished using different colour schemes. A click on any of the bars seen on the chart gives the count information for the resource searches done

N/B: The different count results have different colour codes.

1.2 Process Overview

The process will involve counting the JIRA resources and schemas in the JIRA cloud. Clicking on the App name in this case “Cloud Counter” from the Apps menu, automatically loads up the app. It immediately performs the count function and displays the results in a chart and tabular format. The app is set by default to count for Jira resources first, the customer can then choose from the menu bar to navigate between Schema counts, Service Management or Attachments count.

JUICY PART!!! You have the option to download your results in either a json file format, pdf format or a csv file format.

The user must have access to JIRA cloud to be able to utilise this functionality. The  hosting site will be JIRA cloud.

2.1 How to get JIRA software count

By default the cloud counter app does a Jira software count when clicked on and display results in the format of a bar chart and result table once the count process is completed. The user can view the resources with their corresponding resource count value.
